Voltron – The Electric Motorcycle

Voltron- The Electric Motorcycle

Voltron is a startup of two electric component manufacturing companies with an aim to design long-range electric motorcycles at affordable prices.
The project aims to redesign the existing electric motorcycle and work closely with the manufacturing team to give a manufacturable output for the company.

Problem Statement

Problem Statement

The bike is for lower-middle to middle-class Indian man living in tier 3 or tier 2 cities or rural areas with a price range of 90 thousand to 1.3 lakh.

From the Competitors survey, it was clear that to have an edge over the competition the bike must have a long-range i.e. north of 150km, it should have some internal storage, and its seat must be able to accommodate three people.

It was clear that we need to design the bike with a new frame to include a new battery and motor combination while keeping companies manufacturing capacity in mind. We have to use as many as possible standard off-the-shelf components, including headlights, taillight, forks, wheels, brakes, suspension, etc. Therefore, the frame has to be simple enough to be manufactured by a small startup, and it should also be supportive enough to adapt to the components to be used while keeping manufacturing simple and relatively inexpensive.
